Balaka District Council has donated one of its buildings to the district community radio station (Balaka Community Radio).The council has done this while preparations for the launch of the radio are underway.
Acting Balaka District Commissioner Mr Mngoli, said
radio important for the people of the district and that will help the council
in disseminating various messages, adding that the office of the DC is ready to
ensure the establishment of a radio station.
Speaking on behalf of the BCR board members, Mr
Chidawati thanked the council for providing a house for the radio station.
"Thank you so much, for the wisdom in giving
us this house. This is a clear indication that radio development has been well
received, we are Your children and we have many needs and I know you will
continue to embrace us."

Radio operations Officer Francis Billiat said 45% of existing radio programs would be developmental, adding that council officials will have opportunity to announce or explain the council's plans.
Billiat went further saying all budget meetings of
the council (Full Council Meetings) will be broadcasted live.
Among those present at the ceremony of house
inspection were senior officials from the Office of the Director of Planning
and Development at the Council, Miriam Naula and Mustafa Komanje, who are
members of the Executive committee of the radio.
The Balaka Community Radio offices are currently
located near Banja La Mutsogolo in front of Zembani Lodge.
The Malawi Commutation Regularly Authority granted
Geographical Broadcasting Licence to the communities of Balaka to establish a
radio station.
