Inadequate resources at Balaka District Hospital is said to be a reason that blocking elimination of leprocy disease.

Speaking with Balaka community radio, Leprocy officer for Balaka District Heath office  George Anafi says the district continues to face challenges in dealing with Leprocy disease as the hospital has inadequate resources to cater for mobility challenges which mostly help in tracing patients who are under  treatment parimenter.

He added that the district has been heavly affected by the disease as the number of leprocy statistics continues to rise in the district from 19 to 52 cases though most people thinks that the pandemic ended

Anafi has articulated that "lack of resources towards elimination of the diseases has affected the district as officers fail to follow up patients who fails to come to get the treatment at the hospital"

Meanwhile Anafi has recommended  journalists whom are reporting and making  sure that masses know about the disease.

Anafi has further asked government and other organizations to allocate enough resources to deal with Leprocy disease and train more nurses in order to eleminate the disease.

Meanwhile Julius Mausen 75 years from Machinga district who is at Utale 2 Leprocy treatment center in Balaka district says they only eat once a day due to lack of resources to cater for them.

He continued asking  government and other well-wishers to support them with basic necessities.
